Ledbury Archery Club is based at New House Farm, Putley.
We hold ‘target’ and ‘clout’ shoots throughout the year, meeting on Thursdays from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 10am-Noon
Throughout the year we hold ‘have-a-go’ sessions at local events, ‘Taster’ sessions for those interested in getting started, and Beginners Courses for those new to Archery who wish to join the Club. Check out Beginner’s course info for more details.
Archery is an all-weather sport – during the winter months we can also shoot indoors at Tarrington’s Lady Emily Hall
Ledbury Archery Club members usually shoot with recurve bows or longbows at a target (as above) to a distance of anywhere between 20 & 100 yds. We have training bows and equipment to suit all ages and there are numerous targets and bosses to accommodate large numbers of Archers when we host competitions.
Winter shooting indoors provides a great opportunity to tune kit and practice techniques out of the wind and rain!
Whilst no means compulsory, many Archers find a friendly bit of competition helps them develop their technique and improve scores. There are numerous local, friendly shoots organised throughout the year and they are useful in helping Archers pick up helpful tips, check out different equipment and set-ups and try different disciplines.
Archery is a wonderfully inclusive sport – you don’t have to be super-fit and strong to be a successful Archer, and it’s accessible to many with disabilities. At Ledbury Archery Club, we accept Archers shooting with recurve, compound and longbows – and our shooting range is wheelchair accessible.
We try to give more people the opportunity to try Archery (and raise some funds!) at local ‘have a go’ days or ‘taster’ sessions. Keep your eyes peeled on our News page for details of upcoming events. Meet the team, have a look at the bows and equipment and see if you catch the Archery ‘bug’.
Fancy yourself as Robin Hood or Katniss Everdeen? Contact us for more details. We’d love to meet you and introduce you to this great sport!
