June 2021
As members will know, we, as a club, are back shooting again, albeit in a restricted fashion. We are currently shooting two sessions on a Saturday to allow for social distancing – we are managing to shoot in one session on a Thursday due to the low numbers of archers attending. We have had our first Tasters of 2021 and are now planning our first Beginners course for a couple of years – all in accordance with our own, Archery GB’s, Sport England’s and the Government’s strict guidelines.

Please note that, for the time being, restrictions due to Coronavirus mean that only limited shooting by members, in a strictly controlled manner, is possible at this time. There can be no Have-a-Go events, Taster Sessions, Beginners Courses or Competitions under these circumstances. People interested in taking up Archery are welcome to contact the club in order to register their interest for future events when restrictions are further eased, although at the present time we do not know when this will be.

Happy New Year to all!
I hope that this year we will all see our archery improving (I say that every year, yet personally I seem to have got worse over the last 12 months!) in order we can move ‘up the line’, and attempt new distances – we have to make space for any new beginners we recruit this year! Also perhaps try your hand at a few new disciplines – clout is fun if you haven’t had a go, and I intend to make up some wands later in the year.
Our members may also enjoy a competition or two this year, they are fun and very sociable occasions, or how about volunteering to run an event at Putley? We could always do with more diversity in those who organise events.
The first thing to implement this year will be an ‘Equipment for Sale’ section of the website and noticeboard. We already have our first advertisement, so please have a look and if you have anything you would like advertised, let me know.
In the meantime I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Annual Awards Dinner, which this year will be held at The Farmers Arms in Wellington Heath on Friday 8th February.
