May has been a busy month for LAC with archers hosting and competing at a HAA shoot on the 8th and then for some an open shoot hosted by Bromyard. As previously, our club led the field and a plethora of medals, trophies and county records have been the reward.

8th May. Herefordshire Archery Assoc.
It was another sunny day at Putley and we welcomed archers from Bromyard and Hereford Company of Bowmen. There were 2 rounds available; the American which is 30 arrows at each of 60, 50 and 40 yards or the St Nicolas which is 48 arrows at 40 yards followed by 36 at 30 yards. 22nd May. Bromyard Open WA900

Rather windy at Bromyard but an intrepid band of 6 took on archers from across the West Midlands at what was, for most, a first open competition. The WA900 is 30 arrows at each of 60, 50 and 40 metres – like the American but metric! The competition was fierce and there were some outstanding archers that were inspirational to watch. That said, every member of our team won something (other than the raffle) and we finished second in the team competition only a handful of points behind the winners. Individual results as follows (several of these will also be county records but don’t have details to check):
Gents barebow | Dan C | Gold |
Ladies barebow | Steph | Gold |
U18 Gents recurve | Joe B | Gold |
Gents compound | Justin | Gold |
Ladies longbow | Rachel | Gold |
Best handicap adjusted score | Dan V | Gold |
Rachel | Silver |
